The basic versions of the tracks recorded for “One Kiss” had, for the most part, already come about prior to “Peace Of Mind”, her debut album for SKIP. What's important is that they have now received what studios term 'final form and finesse'. One captivating element of the current album is the amazingly transparent production work by her husband, Chuck Loeb. Supported by Will Lee, this sound assures that the fragile Sophisticated Pop of this New York Lady by choice is unfolded in all its beauty. Predominantly written by the vocalist herself, she also acted as co-producer on many of the songs. On this album Carmen Cuesta-Loeb has again chosen two cover versions: Jobim’s “How Insensitive” has an urgent beauty to it that makes the lyrics perceivable in an unusual way, and the treatment of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” has surely never been given such a sparkle in such lucent simplicity. Alongside Chuck Loeb on guitar, the line-up this time includes the Rhythm Twins Will Lee and Wolfgang Haffner , saxophonists Bill Evans and Nelson Rangell, Mike Ricchiutti on keyboards, Manolo Badrena, Tim Lefebvre and Zach Danziger for additional rhythm work, and Howard Levy on harmonica. “One Kiss” is another piece of proof that Pop music can move within a sophisticated musical environment, yet still reach a large number of wide-ranging music-lovers. The album reached No.28 in the German Jazz Charts.
